Choose the Right

You’ve finally decided the bar would be a great addition to your home. What a fun idea! So where to start? Why not combine the fashionable 36” stools with the perfect bar countertops? What a great look!

Extra tall bar stools are the trendiest addition to the bar. Combine that with a granite or quartz countertop and wow you’ve got style!

It wasn’t too long ago that a 36 inch bar stool would have looked ridiculous but not today. Bar tables and bar countertops have been on the rise so these 36 inch stools now look great! No longer are they only for tall people!

The style of countertop you choose will depend a great deal on the rest of the room’s décor. There are plenty of options. Choose granite, stone, quartz, wood, butcher block, or even tile.

You need to start by deciding what you want from your bar, what your bar theme will be, and what you want to accomplish. Will your bar be modern and trendy? Or will you bring a little old world into your bar? Will it be fun, relaxing, or sophisticated?

There are some great bar designs available on the internet. If you aren’t sure exactly what you want spend some time looking at the ideas that are available online. That will help you decide what it is you really want to accomplish.

Don’t forget your bar should also have a bar fridge, and appliances like a blender and an opener. You’ll have to decide if you are going to have a wet bar which is plumbed or a dry bar which has no plumbing.

So what types of bar countertops do you have to choose from?

1. Concrete
Now I bet this isn’t a type of countertop that you’ve considered yet it’s a great choice for a bar. It’s versatile, durable, easy to change color, and it lasts forever.
2. Mosaic
Mosaic tile looks great and you can do it really cheap if you get creative and use random tile. This allows you to buy left over or discontinued tile at a discount. Of course you can also choose a color theme if you like. A nice affordable choice that can be a lot of fun.
3. Wood
Wood is versatile, classy, and sophisticated. Overall it does require a little more maintenance than some other materials but nothing a light sanding and coat of stain can’t take care of every now and then.
4. Granite, Stone, Quartz
Any type of stone looks rich and sophisticated and it can be dressed up or down depending on the rest of your room’s décor. There’s a terrific choices of colors available so you’ll have no problem complementing your décor.
5. Arborite
Now here’s an option that’s really affordable and has endless choices. If you don’t need a large piece what for discontinued or ends that are marked down.
6. Stainless
If you are looking for that trendy modernistic finish than stainless is definitely worth looking at but be prepared to get the check book out because it is rather pricey. But it looks great! And if you are doing a futuristic bar it’s perfect!

When you build your bar be creative and shop wisely. You don’t have to spend a fortune to build a great looking bar. Start with your bar countertops and then start building from there. Are you ready for some great times with friends and family?
