What You Need To Know About Copper Sheeting Countertops

When it comes to choosing kitchen countertops there are plenty of choices on the market. Copper sheeting countertops are news rage because of their warmth and beauty but there are some things you need to know before you choose copper.

Stainless and copper are very different. Copper is a non ferrous metal that oxidizes and gets a beautiful patina that takes the color to a wonderful deep brown which gives it a deep rich luster.

In Europe it has been popular for hundreds of years for table tops and other items. And of course for countertops too! Copper sheeting makes beautiful counters!

And it’s a great choice for its durability as well. Heat is not an issue. Put the kettle or the hot pot on the counter with no worries. Coppers low melting temperature can cause some distortion if there is prolonged exposure to the heat so you want it to be occasional.

Like any metal surface copper will eventually get surface scratches but polishing will usually removed these light scratches. But don’t feel obligated to remove the scratches. Many like the look and feel of weathered copper. It’s warm and inviting!

One thing you shouldn’t do on your copper countertop is cut or chop food. You need to do your food preparation on a cutting board. You can drop in any style of sink. Self rim, farm, or under mount are all options and of course so is a custom sink.

The copper sheets are a maximum of 48 inch wide and the maximum length is 119 inches. A counter area bigger than this will result in seams. Copper seams nicely so not to worry, whether you have a straight counter, L or U shaped counter just seam your copper.

Copper is easy to maintain on a daily basis. Just wipe with warm soapy water. If you love the patina like most then simply let nature take its course and let it naturally oxidize. If you don’t like the patina then three or four times a year you can polish with a polishing compound if you like. It’s a process much like waxing a car.

Copper looks great in a traditional, country, French, or deco kitchen. Of course it can also be used in other décor fashions if done correctly. The key is to blend correctly.

Unlike stainless which is quite a cold metal although very clean looking, copper is a warm and inviting metal which is one of the reasons it has grown so much in popularity. Combine your countertops with copper pots and kettles. Copper pots look great hanging in the kitchen.

Your kitchen is an important room in your home. It’s the place where you gather with your family to enjoy a good meal. It’s the room where you prepare that fabulous meal. And it’s also the place where kids gather to do homework and friends and family gather to enjoy a cup of tea.

Copper sheeting countertops are one of the easiest ways to install copper in your room. It looks great and like any metal lasts forever! Be sure to check it out – you won’t be disappointed!
