You’ve decided it’s time to give your kitchen a facelift and your countertop is an essential part of that renovation project. So what type of kitchen countertops do you have to choose from?

Some experts believe granite is the best choice if your budget can handle it. Ut granite isn’t an option for everyone. For those that can’t afford granite why not consider options like engineered stone, marble, quartz, or limestone.

Engineered stone is probably the most affordable alternative and the good news is it looks great. In fact it looks so great no one will know the diffence. You’ve got to see it to believe it!

Marble is also very popular especially for kitchens where the home has a resident that loves to bake. There’s something about marble and pastry that’s hard to separate. And of course it looks great too!

Stainless steel is currently very popular. After all it’s modern and trendy with crisp, clean lines. What’s hard not to like. It can be a bit cold but when applied correctly in the room cold turns to classic. And it’s so versatile and durable. Be sure to consider stainless if it fits your décor and budge.

Ceramic countertops and wood are also very popular choices. Both are very affordable and very durable. They look exceptionally good in a French country kitchen or modern kitchen but can be incorporated into almost any kitchen style.
When choosing your countertop material consider the type of flooring you have, the type of cabinets, and your wall color. All of these elements are important to your countertop choice.

Choosing the right countertop means you need to know the cost, the upkeep, and the process. Each countertop has it’s own pros and cons.

Granite is expensive and the least resistant although it looks amazingly rich. It has excellent heat resistance, moisture resistance, and scratch resistance. It requires a sealant to protect from moisture. Granite increases the value of your home.

Marble looks traditional and costs a fair bit. It has some great color and texture choices and it does need to be sealed.

Concrete is a great choice as it’s affordable, durable, and versatile. Seal it and it becomes instantly head and scratch resistant. It’s available in almost any color you can imagine and you can also have it textured.

If you are on a budget laminate is an excellent alternative to the more natural materials. It’s affordable, durable, and looks fabulous! Your choices are absolutely endless.

Hardwood is another option. It’s easy to maintain. Sand and seal and it will reward you a beautiful warm kitchen. They do require regular oiling and the are susceptible to staining. You may have to reseal every few months.

Stainless is sleek, sexy, and clean but it is expensive and is suited to only certain kitchen styles. It’s very durable but can be susceptible to dents.
